Hello and welcome. I am a wildlife ecologist with a keen interest in wild mammals, field research, and sharing the highs and lows inherent in the process of science through teaching and outreach.
A California native, I benefited from attending several community colleges before completing my Bachelors degree at the University of California, Davis. I worked for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and for the US Forest service on black-tailed deer, fisher, and mountain lion research for several years before going to the University of Wisconsin, Madison to do my Masters with Dr. Tim Van Deelen and Dr. Shawn Crimmins.
I completed my PhD with Dr. Alessio Mortelliti at the University of Maine, working with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife on a broad reaching camera trapping project to assess carnivore occurrence patterns and recommend optimal monitoring protocols. After a post-doctorate position teaching in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation Biology under the guidance of Dr. Erik Blomberg, I relocated back to the California Bay Area. I am currently teaching at the University of California, Santa Cruz; serving alongside the executive board of the Martes Working Group to expand our inclusion and support of diverse members; and moonlighting in outdoor education and Capoeira instruction for young children!
Please enjoy the video below as an introduction to some of my recent research, and peruse my webpage to become acquainted with my background and interests. If you'd like to chat, you may contact me by email ([email protected]) or find me on Twitter, BlueSky, Research Gate, and LinkedIn - I look forward to hearing from you.
